ABSTRACT:

After 40 years of working in the oil and gas industry, Liz has seen it all!

Join GeoWomen of Calgary as we host Liz, speaking about her “Reflections from the Oil Patch”.  Part storytelling, part advice & inspiration – for those still in the throes of building and crafting their career path.

Liz will share her career progression from junior geologist to senior and beyond, during the often-cyclic nature of the business. Lessons learned from the early days to the present, she will offer up a personal career timeline, plus encouragement for future geoscientists.

Elizabeth (Liz) More

Elizabeth More has 40 years of experience working as a geologist in the oil, gas and energy industries. She worked her way up through the ranks at both public and private companies, large and small. She was fortunate to start her career at one of the large multi-nationals (Gulf Canada) in the early ‘80’s and has witnessed the development of large discoveries and significant industry milestones such as Canadian frontier exploration, horizontal drilling and resource play development. She has also served as Vice President of Exploration for several small to mid-sized companies while balancing work, family and leisure time.

Since 2015, Liz has specialized in fluid waste disposal, while also running her own consulting company, MORE Solutions Inc.

Liz has volunteered with a number of organizations, including Market Collective in Calgary, and as a part-time farmer on a small organic acreage in the Columbia Valley, BC. She has also shared her time as a volunteer guide with the Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation, Parks Canada, and as a visiting geoscientist for classrooms in Calgary elementary schools.
