Where we are:

GeoWomen is based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis (Calgary) and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.  Finally, we acknowledge all Nations, indigenous and non, who live, work and play and help us steward this land, honour and celebrate this territory.” ~ Land Acknowledgement courtesy of The Calgary Foundation.

How we started:

GeoWomen of Calgary was started as a grass-roots organization in 2014. It has been a member program of the AWSN since 2015. In 2017, GeoWomen of Calgary became a committee of the CSPG and partnered with the CSEG Foundation’s Mentorship Program. GeoWomen of Calgary hosts a monthly Speaker Series and networking sessions geared towards women in the geoscience professions in Calgary. GeoWomen’s motivation is the retention of women in the geoscience professions and advancement of women into senior-level management and senior-level technical positions within the energy industry in Calgary.
